Over the last years a renaissance of bar and restaurant culture has provided architects and designers with the opportunity to pursue a realm of ideas, experimenting with materials, with light and with colours to provide a dramatic backdrop to everyday life. Eating and drinking have become synonymous with fun and escapism, and the possible ways for interior spaces to achieve that combination are endless. Interna Contract has been able to fulfil the needs of this sector in the making of the interiors of some really astonishing places.
For the world-famous Café de la Paix in Paris, for instance, one of our first projects in this field, our Bars & Restaurants Division created all the rich furnishings in mahogany with lacquered or gold-leaf inlays, and superb bronze decorations, which so much contribute in evoking the spirit and the glory of Napoleon III’s Second Empire, when this place full of history was originally set up. The seductive imperial read hues of the chairs together with the yellows and the gold of other decorative features contribute in taking us back in time to this fascinating period of the European history.
